Prairie Spiderwort is a perennial with narrow and blue-violet to rose blooms close that close by mid-day and only last one day. It grows in well-draining soils in sun or light shade. It is heat and drought tolerant. Tradescantia species will hybridize easily. Young growth should be protected from slugs.
